Captain Fatima Sana is set to return to Dubai and rejoin the Pakistan team ahead of their final group game against New Zealand in the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup.
The 22-year-old had flown back to Karachi due to the sudden demise of her father on Thursday (October 10). Sana was named Player-of-the-match in the team's opener against Sri Lanka for a blistering 30 off 20 and two wickets. She almost brought Pakistan back into the game against India as well with back-to-back wickets while trying to defend a low score.
In her absence, Pakistan lost comprehensively to Australia by nine wickets and nine overs to spare.
Meanwhile, fast bowler Diana Baig who pulled up with a calf muscle injury after bowling just a single delivery in the team's opening game against Sri Lanka, was officially ruled out of the tournament. The ICC confirmed that Najiha Alvi was named as the replacement player.
